Last night Jeff and I went to the Mika concert. For those of you who are not sure who he is, his music is now playing on my blog. We were so excited to see him because a couple of months ago we saw he perfom on a late night show are he was awesome to watch. He was such a great perfomer that we promised ourselves if he came to Salt Lake we would spend the money to go and see him. So we did! But yesterday afternoon I heard that his equipment was stuck in Denver due to snow and I got a little bit sad. So we headed over to the venue after we got a bite to eat at Gateway. The doors were supposed to open at 6:00 pm, but we got there at 6:45 and there was a huge line of people standing around waiting to get in the building. We got in line and didn't really think anything of it. We met a foreign exchange student from Germany named Frauka and two cool cats from BYU in line and got to know each other very well because we waited outside in the freezing cold to get in the venue for about 2 hours. IT WAS FREEZING!
Because his equipment didn't arrive they did their whole perfomance accousticly, which they had never done before. But to my surprise and theirs they sounded awesome! The crowd was wild and crazy singing all his songs and screaming you know the things that people do at concerts. Mika kept telling us that we were one of the loudest crowds and he was for sure coming to Salt Lake for another performance. So for those of you who are going to become Mika fans after reading my post, we will all have to go to his next concert together and scream our guts out! I thought the concert was probably better since his equipment got stuck because it was so out of the ordinary. The band kept saying how much fun they were having since they were making up things as they went along. He even performed a couple of cover songs, which he usually doesn't do. I guess the next time he comes to town we will have to compare the two performances.
